Copper and aluminum are the most commonly recycled metals. Copper may be difficult to get your hands on - aluminum is not. The demand for aluminum is high and therefore typically has a strong trade rate. Finding aluminum to resell is easy and beneficial to your surroundings. Many recycling centers will pay you an impressive price per pound for aluminum scraps that are not contaminated.
Aluminum can be found in mass amounts in several different places. Here are seven suggestions of where to find aluminum resources to help keep the world clean and your cash flow green.
- Automobiles: Vehicles of transportation have a multitude of parts that contain aluminum. Even though the labor might not be simple to take apart all of these parts, a good set of wheels or radiators are easier to remove and contain plenty of aluminum.
- Heating and Cooling Units: Large quantities of aluminum can be found in air conditioning and central heating units. Generating cold and hot air to fill entire buildings is heavy duty work, and eventually the units wear out, requiring periodic replacing. When these are tossed out, they usually resell for high prices because of the all-aluminum interiors.
- Window Frames and Doors: Windows and doors are replaced every day. As renovations are made in various buildings, installers and handymen usually get rid of pounds of metal scraps. Many times entire screens from windows and doors are made of aluminum.
- Trash: This is where volume comes in to play. If you drink a lot of soda and can manage to save a hefty amount of cans, you could have a good trade on your hands. Take donations from neighbors and collect curbside waste. Old toys and other junk can reap great aluminum rewards if you gather enough of it.
- Old Fencing: With subdivisions popping up in every corner of America, luxuries like yard fencing are now being ripped out and replaced in neighborhoods weekly. The removal of old fencing is not difficult, and if you can dispose of it yourself, you will be rewarded with a great deal of trade-worthy aluminum.
- Demolition Sites: Demolition sites are great locations for metal scraps. Gutters and downspouts consisting of only aluminum are frequently discarded, and sent to these sites. You can also find window frames, doors, and house sidings that provide a great amount of aluminum for recycling.
- Going Out of Business Sales: When retail stores have to close their business doors for good, they want to get rid of everything. This includes not just the inventory, but the shelves on which the products were displayed on. Left over furnishings may be abundant in aluminum, and most business owners facing foreclosure would be willing to give it away for free or next-to-nothing prices.
The best thing about aluminum is that it can be recycled a million times over, offering a generous value to the scrap metal market. It is not hard to identify and carries less risk to separate than other materials. As the worth of aluminum is underrated and unrecognized, people throw it away more often than recycle it. You can now do your part to reuse the resources that other people are not and make a profit doing it.
