Marietta Recycling has not only joined the organization of “Stopmetalthefts.com” they have started the “Cobb County Metal Theft Taskforce” to be a part of the Stop metal thefts.com.  There are already other groups that are part of the organization, including the Macon/Middle Georgia metal Theft Taskforce.  The goal of the organization is to combat the metal theft problem that has plagued our industry and law enforcement for the last two years.

The website www.stopmetalthefts.com will allow law enforcement, electric utility companies, telecommunication companies, recyclers, businesses, municipalities and district attorneys to work as a collective effort to combat metal thefts.  The website will prove to be an effective tool and an efficient way of cutting down on metal thefts.  The more members that join the better and more effective the website will become.

The website soon hopes to be nationwide having a national network of companies, recyclers and law enforcement working together to combat the nationwide metal theft problem.  By working together the website hopes to assist law enforcement in making quick arrest and firm prosecutions.  The website plans to accomplish this by having an alert system that will quickly dispatch the type of stolen material, quantity and location of the theft.

Marietta Recycling has taken the effort one step further and has started a training program for local law enforcement.  The training program consist of a class which teaches the law enforcement community about the scrap metal industry and helpful tips on apprehending metal theft criminals and prosecuting to fullest extent of the law.  This educational program has proven to be very effective and the demand for these classes is growing like wild fire.  The collective effort between the www.stopmetalthefts.com and Marietta Recycling providing training for law enforcement the outlook is bright on reducing the crime of metal theft.
