Marietta Recycling Educates Law Enforcement on Scrap Industry

In an effort to help reduce metals theft Marietta Recycling has taken the initiative to give classes to local law enforcement on the scrap metal industry. The classes are free of charge and are proving to be beneficial to combat metal thefts. The classes are geared towards giving the officers and detective’s tips of the scrap metal trade and a base knowledge of the industry.

The classes are proving to be beneficial not only in educating law enforcement, but also building a strong network between local law enforcement and recyclers. This network has proven to be very effective in apprehending metal thieves and cutting down on the metal thefts as a whole. Some of the local law enforcement agencies who have participated are: Marietta Police, Kennesaw Police, Cobb County Police, Acworth Police, Holly Springs Police, Kennesaw State University police and others.

The program is just in its beginning stages and it already is having a positive impact. Marietta Recycling plans on expanding the training program across the state. The more law enforcement agencies that get involved will only amplify the positive effects of the program. One of the goals is to get other recycling companies willing to participate and provide training classes of their own to law enforcement in their own cities or counties.

Even though metal theft will never be completely stopped, Marietta Recycling along with other recyclers and law enforcement are working together to reduce the metal theft to a point where it is of little concern. If you have a business or are interested in being involved with this metal theft network please call Scott Cone at Marietta Recycling.
